About the North Texas Crime Commission

Our History

The North Texas Crime Commission (formerly the Greater Dallas Crime Commission) was established in 1950.  We believe proper enforcement and enlightened prevention can be achieved through a comprehensive and cooperative effort involving concerned citizens and law enforcement.

We also provide a forum for the exchange of information between local law enforcement and federal agencies such as the F.B.I., D.E.A. and the U.S. Marshals service.  But we can only accomplish out mission with public support.

What does the NTCC do?

If you live or work in North Texas, the NTCC is working to keep you safe.

We operate the North Texas Crime Stoppers reward program.  It pays rewards for anonymous tips and forwards that information to the appropriate law enforcement agency.

Under the umbrella of Crime Stoppers, we operate the North Texas Campus Crime Stoppers(c).  This program allows students to anonymously report criminal activity on their campuses.

We develop and promote crime scene re-enactments to highlight unsolved crimes.

We bring important criminal justice issues to the attention of the state's legislature.

We provide support to law enforcement for advanced training equipment.

We support programs that provide special law enforcement community based training and intervention.

We Get Results

The NTCC accomplishes its mission through the work of various committees comprised of volunteers from the community, law enforcement, corporate partners,  civic and educational institutions.  We also form affiliations with groups to receive and/or manage grant funds supporting law enforcement.

Our Programs

Auto Theft

Vehicle thefts account for approximately 45% of all thefts committed in Dallas County.  Through the combined efforts of law enforcement and support groups such as the North Texas Crime Commission, vehicle related thefts are down 20% over the past three years.

Better Kids Better Dallas

BKBD has fund organized activities for young persons, supported crime prevention programs and encouraged academic achievement

Crime Stoppers

A cooperative program among law enforcement agencies and concerned citizens designed to assist in solving crimes.

Law Enforcement Liaison

Proceeds from the annual Sporting Clays Shoot are used to send law enforcement to advanced in-service training courses and to bring national instructors to the area for seminars.

Metro Crime Council

This committee provides benefits to the retail and banking law enforcement community.  Its membership is comprised of law enforcement robbery investigators and industry security experts who share tips, photos, leads and other important information to solve crimes in our community.  The committee also works with other organizations to offer free training courses for law enforcement personnel.

Southwest Transportation Security Council

SWTSC promotes a partnership among transportation carrier security management groups and law enforcement to enhance communication and cooperation with a focus on supply chain logistics security issues and cargo theft in Texas, the Southwest United States and Mexico.

Project Safe Neighborhoods

The North Texas Crime Commission receives and administers four U.S. Department of Justice grants supporting community based crime prevention programs in targeted neighborhoods.  PSN has been successful in reducing violent gun crime and in offering alternatives to juveniles who are being influenced to join gangs.
